Resignation of Walker’s Aid Shows Walker’s Loyalty to Extremists Agenda on Immigration

WASHINGTON, D.C- This morning news broke that Scott Walker’s aid, Liz Mair, resigned from her position after tweeting about her disappointment on Steve King’s (R-IA) extreme agenda on immigration. The Dream Action Coalition issued the following statement regarding her resignation:

“It is disappointing to see that, despite the lesson that Mitt Romney learned in 2014 after losing more than 70% of the Latino vote for his ‘self deportation’ stance, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker has decided to side with immigration extremist Rep. Steve King. Liz Mair’s resignation shows that Walker’s campaign is leaning towards an extreme agenda on immigration, rather than taking the step to clean up the GOP’s anti-immigrant image,” said Cesar Vargas, Co-Director of Dream Action Coalition.

“It is not too early to start reminding those who are looking at having a real shot at the Presidential seat that siding with characters like Chris Kobach and Congressman King will only remind the Latino community that the GOP has done absolutely nothing to try to win their vote. We expect the candidates to have real solutions for our community, but all we see are deportation threats and primary rhetoric,” said Erika Andiola, Co-Director of Dream Action Coalition.
