Joe Arpaio has become notorious nation wide. In some circles, he’s “America’s Toughest Sheriff,” in others, “The Face of Racism.” If tough means degrading while flanked by shotgun-toting deputies, Joe Arpaio may well be the toughest sheriff in the country, however, I still say the latter name offered is more appropriate. Called “The Face of Racism in America” by Jorge Ramos, Joe Arpaio continues to draw criticism, and somehow continues to be an important part of local and national politics. He’s managed to galvanize some of the crazies, such as the Tea Party and the Birthers, while he’s considered a dangerous joke by mainstream America.
